1995 Restaurant Awards
America's Best Restaurants
Your Table is Ready....
The restaurants listed here are the highest scoring of the roughly 2,000 superior American dining establishments rated in this, our second annual Restaurant Awards Readers’ Poll.
This year, the poll represents the judgements of nearly 7,000 Conde’ Nast Traveler readers. The independent firm of Mark Clements Research, Inc., asked readers in 21 regions of the United States to evaluate restaurants they had dined at within the past 12 months using three criteria: Food (which accounts for 50% of the total ratings), Service (25%), and Decor (25%). The scores represent the percentage of readers rating the candidate as "excellent" or "very good." The highest possible score is 100%.
Cost is indicated using symbols ($, $$, $$$) that are based on either the lowest-priced meat or fish entree or the lowest-priced prix fixe menu, rounded to the nearest dollar. The cost categories reflect price ranges for America’s finest restaurants, rather than national averages, and hence are rather high: $ = up to $15 a la carte, up to $30 prix fix. $$ = $16-$24 a la carte, $31-$50 prix fix. $$$ = $25 or more a la carte, $51 or more prix fix. Signature dishes may vary by season and are subject to changes.
